Oliver Selected for CTL and SLS Fellows Programs for 2017-18

The School of Economics is proud to announce that Assistant Professor Matthew E. Oliver has been selected to participate in Georgia Tech's Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) Class of 1969 Teaching Fellows program and for the Serve-Learn-Sustain (SLS) Energy Systems for Sustainable Communities (ESSC) Fellows program for the 2017 - 18 academic year.

The CTL Class of 1969 Teaching Fellows program is designed for junior faculty across Georgia Tech to meet regularly in an interdisciplinary environment, for “pedagogically focused support and professional development” with respect to teaching and student learning. Participants are also awarded $1,000 in discretionary funds for teaching-related activities or resources and receive an invitation for SLS Fellows only to apply for additional teaching or research funds up to $5,000.

SLS Fellows programs comprise an interdisciplinary learning community bringing together diverse stakeholders from on and off campus to meet regularly to examine key themes related to sustainable community-building. They help participants push their research, teaching, and action in new ways while also informing strategic direction for the Center for Serve-Learn-Sustain. This year’s ESSC theme “will explore how communities interact with energy systems and how diverse stakeholders — from academic, business, community, nonprofit, and government sectors — can collaborate to create energy systems that contribute to creating sustainable communities in which people and nature flourish.”
